The Story of Beryl Kent and the Bleeding Man

Beryl Kent is singular in her efforts to pursue justice for the ‘bleeding man’ whose only connection to her is his falling on her, severely injured, in the privacy of her rear garden lawn. How did he get there in such a condition? She is relentless in finding the truth behind the assault. Beauregard tries his best to limit her influence but is surprised to find a most helpful and unexpected partnership with this feminine example of police obstruction.

Just who is solving the attempted murder of the ‘bleeding man?’ Is it Beryl Kent, the Intrusive citizen? The mysterious Colonel Connault, Defense Attorney Norberto Cull? Or the intrepid Captain Beauregard?

Captain Beauregard and his MCU detectives work, not together, but perhaps in a concert of investigations. Bring in Federal investigators chasing international money laundering schemes and Springfield MCU’s oversight for a second attempted murder of the recovering ‘bleeding man.’

How does our own Captain Beauregard survive this constant stepping on his two connected murder inquiries?

What Do Readers Think of K.B. Pellegrino's
Mystery Novels?

When you think about murder, you think motive and opportunity. But rarely would you think about schizophrenia. K. B. Pellegrino thought about it and wrote a tingling, thrilling book about a side of our mind we rarely give any thought. In KILLING THE VENERABLE (It’s their time!), the He will send your mind reeling. Don’t miss this thriller!

"Sunnyside Road is a book of razors-edge intrigue while introducing a humorous twist to killings that are mostly those considered unthinkable. (...)"

About the Award-Winning Author: K.B. Pellegrino

Kathleen lives with her husband Joe and their dog Othello midst their large family in Springfield, Massachusetts.

“My love affair with plots, murder, mystery, spies and, in general, with crime novels began at an early age when I would raid my father’s suitcase after his return from each of his frequent business trips. There lay one, two and sometimes three paperbacks. O’ the temptation to steal them before my older sister got them. And I read and read – probably have read 2,000 crime novels since then. Even at that early age, I developed my own plots if only to cover up my misdeeds to the chagrin of my family and teachers. Some less creative called it fibbing!

Add to that my service as a Springfield Police Commissioner and a ward political party leader, 20 years in an earned professorship at Westfield State University and service as Chairperson of the Department of Economics and Management, my education at Boston University as an engineer and later an MBA from Western New England College, my licenses as a Certified Public Accountant, a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor and Massachusetts Justice of the Peace, my experience in rehabbing historic residential and commercial buildings, my solo practice in taxation, my leadership as Executive Director of the Springfield Parking Authority, and most importantly my love of being a Springfield storyteller; I write now from those experiences.

I have always written but alas only to the narrow constraints of business and law; certainly often much more long-winded and with far less interesting turns of events. Now I write from the love of plot – of people and their ways – of life – of philosophy – about crime – about the sociopath/psychopath.”

Kathleen is the winner of the 2020 American Fiction Awards in the Mystery/Suspense: Procedurals category for her 3rd novel Mary Lou: Oh, What Did She Do?
